- I think Ϊ and Gadfly are talking about the same thing. Don't know what you are arguing about. :-) Ϊ said Chinese is lack of motivation. Gadfly/Diamond pointed out that motivation is determined by political structures which is determined by geography which is determined by... pure luck? Hope I got it right. Actually I think Chinese civilization is brilliant enough. :-) It would be unfair to compare it with the entire Western civilization.

God do I feel chatty I thought about U.K. a lot lately I imagine being a young student in London, pale-faced, wandering in the museums like a ghost In the weekend I will take trains to the country side. I would stare out of the window, absent-mindedly, a faint ray of sun-shine will rest on my face occasionally, giving me a little bit of warm color OK enough day-dreaming. Linghu, tell me, why

I keep close watch on any suspicious car in the neighborhood. :-) One of the biggest identity theft was commited by two technology savvy thieves who parked outside the home improvement store Lowes and read its wireless signals. Hundreds of thousands of customer credit card information were stolen through the air.

If you travel back in a time machine, you will probably find a lot of artworks back then were actually ûû. 2. In ancient times the functions of art were limited to glorify religion, war or the rulers. Only in much later years can common people use art forms to express personal feelings and desires and at the same time be recognized and appreciated for their creativity. 3. Many art act
- Is someone like Ann Coulter who goes for shock value more than anything else? There are quite a few such celebrities in the U.S. and they are quite entertaining. I love Jon Stewart in particular. Maybe it is not too bad to add some comedies into Politics. One thing for sure is that if you start to analyze them, the joke is on you.
- [RE:] ƻ罱߶ƪС˵I wouldn't call it yet, and I don't think these questions below are really worth answering. It is quite an achievement for a new immigrant to become a prominent writer in such a short period of time. Many new immigrants (myself included sometimes) somehow seem to think that we have to live a semi-segregated existence in the U.S. Li proves the opposite. I appreciate any Chinese fella who can make her voice heard in the mainstream. Hopefully in the near future, Chinese writers can break away from

Because of the increasing heat, huge chunks of ice from north/south pole are breaking off and melting into the oceans, changing the tempreture and direction of the currents, which in turn bringing cold weather to the land.
- [RE:] ̸A-shan sweetheart I am so worried about you. I got someone on my tail today so I can't talk but I hope you are alright. I was in your situation 3-4 years ago. Sometimes when I was at work I just ran to the restroom to cry. But eventually things turned out alright for me. Anyway don't lose your faith in love and don't do anything drastic. Talk to you later.
- [RE:] ˹һЩI dont think this way anymore. Maybe Ive stayed in the U.S. for too long. The of the U.S. no longer impress me: Ive got used to them. Of course the U.S. political system is better than Chinas. So what? This bar is just too low for U.S. The system failed miserably in the past few years. Maybe I should consider living in Europe for a couple of years.

- Why do you want to have Chinese food in New Orleans anyway? New Orleans has the most amazing cajun food. When I was there 2 months ago, I ate so much that I almost couldn't walk. They've got jambalaya, creole, gumbo, crawfish, corn bread, fried allegator, and that round sweet ball with a funny name that I couldn't recall. They've got all kinds of special spices and seasonings in the French market. A friendly black guy even gave me a banana pepper to hold as flowers. The city is full of music: Jazz, R&B,
