non-Archimedean number system.

That puts the story roughly right.
0&1, 1 bit, 2 numbers, are enough to bring the whole human being into digital life. They can give birth to the whole universe. :)
XW, your poem failed the basic review. Can you revise pls :) - Re: 自然笔记:数posted on 02/10/2009

A few strange number facts:
504: if subtract by 7, the result is divisible by 7, if 8, by 8, 9 by 9.

Perfect numbers: 6(=1+2+3), 28(=1+2+4+7+14)
Pythagoras' other self friend, amicable numbers:

我书上说实数集是波斯诗人Omar Khayyam(1048-1131)发明的,海亚
Omar Khayyam was such a thinker. He added attributes to numbers beyond
the properties of the rationals. These enhanced numbers, which comprise
both rationals and irrationals, we call the set of real numbers, notated as R.
But he encountered a problem when he attempted to transform the rationals
into these new, more flexible entities. The usual operations of calculation--
subtraction and division--had been sufficient to bring about previous expansions
of the definition of numbers. For example, division had created the expansion
from natural to rational numbers and subtraction had created the negatives.
But there was a fundamental difference between the rational and the real
numbers: the set of all real numbers forms a continuum.

Excellent!
Now extend this to an NxN matrix, where N is any odd number greater than 3, and add up to N/2(N2+1). ;-)
